Dubai is home to some of the finest club and beach club venues anywhere and they rightly grab the headlines regularly as they play host to some of the world’s biggest DJs and live club acts but the popular destination is not just popular with the electronic dance music set. Fans of all types of music are blessed with an abundance of choices across the region as the biggest acts from the classical, jazz, pop and rock scene regularly include Dubai and Abu Dhabi in their world tour plans.
You just have to look at some of the acts dropping in to the region I the first half of 2017 to get an idea of the importance of Dubai as a live music destination. Indie pop sensation Clean Bandit will appear at Solis DXB on February 10, global superstar Rod Stewart can be seen at the Du Arena in Abu Dhabi on March 2 and rockers Guns N Roses headline the Autism Rocks arena on Mar 03. The same arena plays host to Canadian’s Bryan Adams on March 09 and Justin Beiber on May 06, two very different but equally popular artists. For those that like their live music on a nostalgic tip, look no further than UB40 at the Irish Village on March 30.
It’s not all about the popular genre either, lovers of a more refined live musical experience also have plenty of choice. From the Emirates Airline Jazz Festival, which kicks off on February 22 at Dubai Media City and remaining on a jazz tip, popular UK crooner Jamie Cullum brings his energetic live show to the Dubai Opera House on April 8. Staying at the opera house, Madam Butterfly opens on March 02. The first six months of 2017 are the perfect example of the diverse musical offering that Dubai boasts as it welcomes world class talent across various musical genre’s in some spectacular settings. It’s yet another example of why Dubai has become one of the most vibrant and cosmopolitan destinations in the world, both as a place to live and as a vibrant holiday choice.
